Tomorrow is MLK Day, a school holiday for Dore. We had some discussion about Dr. King and I asked if he had ever heard of Nelson Mandela. He had not. We discussed MLK and Mandela as addressing similar problems.

There were no movies in the theaters that either we had not seen or that I thought would be appropriate. We went to lunch and then I offered Dore the option of seeing 3 rooms in a museum or seeing a movie about Nelson Mandela. He picked the movie and we went to my place and watched it on Netflix (with popcorn).

During the movie I texted Angela, Dore's Mom, and offered that I did not want to pry into her personal affairs but observed that Dore was feeling worried and unsure about her health status. She texted back information about a major heart surgery she had and, after the movie, I explained to Dore what had happened to his Mom and why she didn't feel well. He asked good, on point questions. I believe that he deals with his worries better when he has some understanding of what is going on.
