Please complete the application in its entirety. Incomplete applications will not be considered for scholarship awards.

 

The deadline for this application to be received is June 1st. No exceptions!

Purpose

To provide scholarships to active mentees in the Guiding Light Mentoring Program who are attending a post-secondary educational institution and/or trade school.

  1. DEADLINE for scholarship applications is June 1st.  (no exceptions).

  2. Refer to criteria below for eligibility requirements.

  3. Refer to the application process below for a list of the supporting documents needed. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

  4. If any questions do not apply to you in this application please put N/A in the space.

  5. Type or print legibly.  Illegible applications will be returned to you unprocessed.

  6. You will be notified by mail and/or email by June regarding the status of your application.

  7. If you have any questions about the application please contact a member of the Scholarship Committee at (513) 541-9777.

  8. Scholarship funds will only be awarded (ONCE) to the student’s college/university OR trade school account upon your application being reviewed by the committee and selected as a scholarship recipient.

Criteria

  1. Applicant must be a resident of Hamilton County.

  2. Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or GED equivalent.

  3. Applicant must be enrolled in the Guiding Light Mentoring Program two (2) years prior to the submission date of application.

  4. Applicant GPA must be 2.0 or higher.

  5. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at a college /university carrying at least 12 credit hours or must be enrolled full-time at a trade school.

  6. Applicant must have an acceptance letter from a college/university and/or trade school.

Application Process

Applicant must submit the following items:

  1. Completed application form (below)

  2. Letter of application addressed to the Scholarship Committee with a brief explanation of career goals.

  3. Three (3) letters of recommendations from either high school teachers, administrators, counselors, employers, mentors or individuals with significant knowledge of the applicant.

  4. An official school transcript

  5. Proof of college acceptance. A letter of college and/or trade school acceptance is required for receipt of funds.

  6. Personal Essay. Describe yourself and how have you made a positive difference in your community, school, family, etc.?
